Facts about your Monstera Deliciosa - Swiss Cheese Plant
The Monstera originates from the low lands and jungle of Southern Mexico but has since been introduced to other parts of the world with similar climates. As the name Monstera suggests it can grow to a monster size in its natural habitat with leaves reaching three feet and plants growing to a giant sixty six feet. In the wild the Monstera can produce fruit that taste somewhere between a pineapple and banana. The aerial roots are traditionally used to weave baskets in Mexico.
Caring for your Monstera Deliciosa - Swiss Cheese Plant
Light - Your Monstera loves dappled light. It will do well in a bright but shady room. Too much direct light will damage the plant’s leaves and not enough will mean it will struggle to grow.
Water - Let the top inch or so of soil become dry between waterings, this will probably mean watering about once a week depending on the season and position of your plant.
Top Tip - Clean the dust off your plant’s leaves using the inside of a banana skin. Simply run the skin down the leaf and the natural moisture will remove the dust.
